A lovely first day in Luxor

We spent a few days sailing and visiting the temples along the river. I especially liked sitting on deck and watching the villages go by.
We visited the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and a few temples. The wall carvings at Medinet Habu stayed with me in particular. I'm looking back on the trip through the photos.
I loved walking between the huge columns. Karnak and Luxor Temple each have a different atmosphere, which made it interesting. We could also ask about the carvings that caught our eye.
We first went in 2025 and decided to come back in 2026. This time the plan with exact times was sent the evening before, which made it easy to prepare for the next day. We would have a relaxed breakfast and then set off to see the temples.
We really enjoyed the boat ride and the temple on its island. The explanations at the obelisk and the view from the dam rounded off the day nicely.
I first visited in 2025 and joined again in 2026 with my parents. This time we were told the rest stop and timing the day before, which made it easy to plan. It was lovely to rest along the way while enjoying the scenery.
We booked mainly for Luxor, but Dendera ended up being my favourite. Looking up at the painted ceiling was one of those moments you keep thinking about afterwards.
The little boat ride to Philae made this feel different from our other temple visits. The unfinished obelisk was also much more interesting with someone explaining it.
Our first trip was in March 2025, and we came back with friends in September 2026. This time there were longer lunch breaks and extra time to relax between visits. A lovely way to enjoy both banks again.
