Two days to enjoy it properly
We decided to dedicate one day to each bank. We had time to look at the small details, ask our questions and take lovely photos.

The size of the statues at Abu Simbel surprised us when we saw them up close. I liked the explanation about moving the temples, and the desert scenery on the road from Aswan was part of the experience too.
We chose it for our first visit to Luxor. I especially liked Hatshepsut's temple against the cliffs. It was interesting to see both banks and compare completely different temples.
What I liked most were the colours inside the tombs and the columns of Karnak. We saw so many places in a single day, and in the evening we sat looking through the photos and talking about where we had been.
I chose this because I wanted to see Dendera and Abydos as well as Luxor. The colours of the ceiling were especially beautiful. I also got to look at the wall carvings at leisure, and it became a lovely memory.
I liked being able to see the West Bank on the first day and the East Bank on the second. There was time to take photos, and we enjoyed everything calmly to the end.
I was looking forward to the Valley of the Kings, but Hatshepsut's temple was great too. Being told in advance what to look for meant we could take our time looking on our own.
Sitting on deck watching the riverbanks go by was lovely. The stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo gave us plenty to talk about over dinner.
We considered squeezing everything into one day. Having a separate day for each bank meant we could actually enjoy the last temple as much as the first.
At Dendera we spent a long time looking at the ceiling, and at Abydos I liked the reliefs. I'm glad these places were included in the trip: they complemented our impressions of the Luxor temples well.
