We did not expect to see so many colours inside. The explanations before going in helped us spot the details, even without knowing the whole history.
I travelled with my mother and we chose an unhurried pace. With a separate day for each bank there was time to sit down and to take photos. Very pleasant memories of the trip.
Medinet Habu was a pleasant surprise, especially the details on the walls. We enjoyed discovering the different valleys and comparing the decoration of the temples.
Starting with Luxor was a good choice for us. The temple visits gave us plenty to see, and the time on deck was a lovely way to enjoy the Nile scenery.
We saw temples and tombs on both banks. On the first day the wall paintings stayed with us most, on the second the columns of Karnak. We got to know different sides of Luxor.
The desert scenery on the way from Aswan was interesting to watch. Seeing the huge statues at Abu Simbel in person was a real highlight of our trip.
The flow of seeing things in order, starting from Luxor, was easy to follow. We enjoyed visiting the temples and then relaxing slowly on the boat.
I was excited about the temples, but the view of the Nile and the villages from the boat was lovelier than I expected. The visit to Kom Ombo was one of my favourite stops.
We mostly came for the Valley of the Kings, but what I remember best are the walls of Medinet Habu. It was interesting to compare the paintings in the tombs with the large reliefs in the temples.
