A stroll along the East Bank
This time we chose the East Bank. Karnak is huge, and we enjoyed looking at the columns and asking questions. On our next visit we plan to see the tombs separately.

We travelled from Luxor to Aswan and visited the temples along the way. The time on the Nile was relaxing, and Philae was one of the places that stayed in my mind after the trip.
What stayed with us most were the wall paintings in the tombs and the columns of Karnak. We saw a lot in one day, and in the evening we kept going back through our photos.
Between excursions I loved sitting on the deck and watching the banks. Of the stops I liked Kom Ombo most; it's beautiful by the river.
The tomb paintings were my favourite part, and Karnak was much bigger than I expected. Seeing both banks gave us so many lovely photos to look through that evening.
The boat ride to Philae island was a lovely part of the day. The unfinished obelisk was enjoyable with the explanation, and from the dam we enjoyed the view and took a few nice photos.
Photos really do not show the colours inside the tombs. Hatshepsut's temple was great too, and we enjoyed taking photos beside the Colossi of Memnon.
We chose the East Bank only so we could walk at our own pace. The columns at Karnak are stunning and we had time to take photos and ask questions. Suitable if you don't want a very long day.
We visited the royal valleys and several temples with my parents. Medinet Habu stood out for its wall carvings, and we came home with some lovely family photos.
The columns at Karnak were the best part for me. We enjoyed looking at the small details on the walls and hearing how the two temples were connected.
